Shiner Academic and Athletic Foundation Making an impact
Shiner, TX April 24, 2024 - The Shiner Academic and Athletic Foundation (SAAF) is a non-profit that partners with the community to enrich learning, optimize the use of current athletic facilities, and support students' post-secondary goals within the Shiner ISD School District. The foundation aims to provide essential resources for educational programs and athletic activities that are not covered by the normal operating budget, thereby enhancing the overall academic and athletic experience for all students.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards improving educational and athletic programs in the district without the need for tax increases, fostering increased community involvement from individuals, businesses, and civic organizations.
As part of this partnership, the Don G Kaspar Foundation (DGKF) has generously contributed a grant towards the restoration efforts of the old gymnasium, demonstrating a commitment to preserving historical landmarks and enhancing athletic facilities for the benefit of current and future generations.
"We are thrilled to partner with the Shiner Academic and Athletic Foundation in impacting our community," said director David Ehrig from the Don G Kaspar Foundation. "By focusing on our youth, we are paving the way for the future success of our community."
In addition to the restoration project, the SAAF has invited South Texas Blood & Tissue to Shiner to facilitate blood donation drives, aiming to save lives and promote community health through voluntary blood donations.
Looking ahead, the Shiner Academic and Athletic Foundation plans to organize an event to provide the community with an inside look at the restoration work being done on the old gymnasium. This event will serve as an opportunity for community members to learn more about the project and witness firsthand the positive impact of their support.
